intakes

With the CAI you are supposed to get more power because you are pulling colder that is by nature, more compressed vs. the hot air out of the engine compartment with the short ram. Of course, with the CAI you have the added concern of pulling water into the intake if you live in a wet area. You can get a by-pass valve for the CAI, but I don't think it is worth it for the power loss. I actually have both, short for winter and CAI for summer....not that hard to change out.

the only way youre going to suck in water like that and blow your engine is if the filter is completely submerged in water. so its definitely not a necessity, even in areas with lots of rain. as for the performance, hes about dead on, except its not "supposedly" better, its dyno proven. colder temperatures allow air to be more dense (has more oxygen per given volume)which allows more fuel to burn, giving you more power.

oh, and i consider the CAI to be the most worthwhile mod done to my car. followed by the clutch...mmm, grip.
