99 GC Anti-theft issues...Maybe??
I have a real problem here... I have a 99 GC 4.0. My problem is this. I went camping over the weekend with the family and I had an aftermarket DVD player installed. I let my daughter watch a movie while we were still setting up camp. After about 45 minutes my wife got into the jeep to make sure the battery was still alive. After starting the car she immediately shut it back off and we went about finishing setting up the site with me. The next morning we went to start it back up and nothing. Now my 7 y.o. daughter is known for getting into things and pushing buttons but we took the keys with us while we were putting things together. When I tried to start the GC, the motor turns just fine but just does not start. There is a light on the dash that is new now. It is a light with a key and a circle around it with a line through it. Apparently this is the anti theft light??? At least this is what the dealer says. When I put the key in the ignition and turn it on, all the lights come on then go off then the one anti theft light comes back on. I tried to unlock the GC with the key and lock it. Nothing. I tried disconnecting the battery for 24 hours and nothing. One dealer said I have to unlock the passenger and/or rear hatch with the key manully for it to reset but there is only a driver door lock to manually try?? I tested all I could with a tester and a ohmmeter and I have power to all the fuses and relays, just no power to the fuel pump, injectors and coil. The key is the original and it does have a key faub, I tried locking the door with the window down and open the door from the inside to see if the alarm goes off and it does not. The remote will arm the vehicle but I cannot make it go off. I ended up having the car towed 200 miles home and now I have a very heavy paper weight. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
