Exclamation Grand AM Brake Pulse

My hunny has a 2005 Grand AM, and the front pads were just replaced.
The rotors were not turned. 111000 miles.

I have driven the car and at fast speed you can feel it in the brake pedal and the steering wheel shimmies. Low speed OK. I purposely drove the car with the brakes on to heat the rotors, and they do shimmy when they are hot.

Cool down and they are OK. I tried to tell her they should be turned. This car has gone thru 3 sets of brakes since it was built which is somewhat normal.

Other than that it drives well and no problems in the steering. Can someone tell me if I am correct?

and thanks for your

John

Re: Grand AM Brake Pulse

You should check the rotors for minimum thickness. If you have gone through three sets of pads the rotors may need replaced rather than turned. They aren't that expensive and not hard to change so I suggest a replacement. The pads will last longer and the stopping power will be greater.
