Tachometer Inop... Is it an easy fix?

Well, after reading further down the blog, on page two, I see that others have had this problem with the tach and speedo. From what I read, it sounds like the 'servo motor' behind the dial. At least I believe that to be the problem. Not a big deal, I know I won'ttake it to the Chevy Dealers here in Phoenix, they're all a bunch of con artists! I've done most of the maintenece myself, and at a fraction of what the dealer wants to charge. They want to charge you a hundred bucks to tell you what they think may be wrong with it. I've been screwed by the dealers here in Phoenix way too many times, and never again! I'm glad I found this site, it has already shown to be a great source of information! Thanks, again!

The Tachometer in my '05, Silverado Crew Cab LB 4x4 Allison 5 Speed Automatic, 6.6 Turbo Diesel, just quit the other day. Could it be that something came unplugged? Is it an easy fix? I'm puzzled.

since this is a 2005 and the vehicle operates normally I would say it is the motors are defective in the dash,,you may still be able to get this under warrantee ..check with the dealership if this is possible..if the tach signal was missing the engine controls would be an issue ..
