1999 Park Ave - I could use some very specific help in how to access the passenger side Heater blend motor. This is the one that controls the heat or cooling percentage for the passenger. Everyone says through the glove box opening, but when I lower it out of the way, there is a large module that I believe is the Heater Control Module (PN on it is 16238774). The bracket that holds this is directly in the way of the module I need to access. 89018365 is the part number of the one I want to replace. It appears you would have to remove the dash to remove the bracket, but maybe someone out there knows the trick to fixing this one.
Sure could use some specific help on this. I am assisting an 87 year old lady and trying to fix it for her for free. She is on a pretty limited income. Thanks in advance for the assistance!! PS - The symptom is that there is no passenger control of the temp. It is just blowing 100% heat. Drivers side work fine. |

Re: Need help on how to access the Passenger side Heater blend Motor
Thank you for the reply. I have searched it. Photos of the part and what breaks, but nothing that details how to R and R the part. They all say go through the Glove Box opening. That may work on some older models, but on a 99, there is a large control module and mounting bracket in the way and no accessable screws to remove the braket. I am hoping there is someone out there with knowledge of this specific year and model that can lend some expert advice.

The blend motor screws can then be accessed...I think you have to come up from the bottom if I remember correctly. It was a little tight but the driver's blend control caused even more difficulty for me. Through the glove box opening you can see what you are doing. EDIT: I think you can get one or two of the blend motor screws out through the glovebox with a screwdriver type nutdriver. Last edited by bigsky; 06-19-2010 at 02:58 AM. |
