Passenger electric door lock not unlocking right

I would like to know if there is a known issue with the lock/unlock solenoid failing with the power lock setup on the GM trucks?I have a peculiar problem with my 99 Silverado in that the passenger door won't unlock all the time with either the button or key fob.It locks fine it's just every so often I have to push the button a half dozen times or more to get the door to unlock and to isolate the problem I traced the voltage path down today and am getting the correct voltage drop on the lock and unlock sides of the plug at the solenoid. This tells me that the unlock side of the solenoid circuit is not working correctly and am wondering if anyone else is having the same problem and what they did to cure this.

with the control devices working correctly I believe this is internal of the solenoid ...this I have seen on these GM vehicles when this old/older..this is not a problem issue with vehicles less than 10yrs old..

by moving the lock linkage slightly then this will work ..this is the way I have found that it is internal of the solenoid..

I had it happen once on my passenger door, turned out the linkage popped out of the latch inside the door just take of the door panel and check it out.

Re: Passenger electric door lock not unlocking right

some times rust will build up on the solenoid rod. just clean it and lube it. then check all the linkages, lube and replace any broken parts. it will work like new. i had a 85 chevy, that i keep working like new just by doing simple manintance on the door locks. since your going to be inside the door. lube the window tracks. its probly time to do it. clean out the old grease and replace with new.

this fall i got to winterize this truck. i traded my 85 off for a brand new 2004 should of keep the old truck. the 2004 every time the temp gets to 33 out i cant roll down the windows. its time to get rid of chevys grease and use the good stuff.
