Trouble Starting my car

The car is a 93 Mitsubishi Galant and after sitting overnight or for other long periods of time it has trouble starting. The ignition comes on when i turn the key, and it makes that "er er er er" sound but it does'nt actually starts running and go "brooooom"(excuse me for describing my problem in different sounds haha") After about 10 trys usually, it will start up and run. But when it does, it is very sluggish for a few miles until it warms up. People tell me it is either spark plugs or injectors--and BTW it has been getting horrible gas mileage lately.

For a car to run you need three basic components:
1) Spark (ingnition)
2) Fuel
3) Compression
(This applies assuming your engine isn't seazed, and nothing is broken)

Since your car still runs we can assume it is getting all three, but the difficulty of starting it tells us that one or more of these three is not being properly delivered. Assuming your still have compression by the year of your car it would need to be something in the ignition or fuel. Check your spark plugs for gap and correct coulored electrode (use the back of a Haynes manual for your car to diagnose electrode colour). If these are fine then check your spark plug wires. If these are fine test your coil(s). As for fuel, I don't recomend you play with the fuel system your self as judging by your terminology ("er er er er", "brooooom") you seem to lack knowledge in the automotive department. Get a Haynes manual for your car and it should tell you how to perform these tests yourself. If everything checks out, then take your car to a mechanic, tell him what you've checked, and he will test the remaining possibilities.

does your car have a carburator or is it fuel injected? if it does have a carburator, from what you said, to me it sounds like something is wrong with the automatic choke. it doesnt seem like it would be the ignition becuase then it would make sense that it runs fine after its warmed up but that could be your gas milage problem (i would replaced the spark plugs and see if that helps your mileage). it doenst seem like it would be compression either because, like the ignition, would affect the car all the time not just before it warms up. i just noticed that you mentioned injectors but i dont know if the people that told you knew whether your car was fuel injected or not so check to see which it is and post it. if it isnt the choke, then maybe it is one of the temperature sensors that tell the ecu the car needs more fuel if the engine isnt warmed up. however i am far from an expert, that is just my theory.
