What fluid goes in the transfer case?? Feel stupid for asking, lol!!
Hi everyone, I have a 1998 rodeo 3.2 4x4 and want to change the transfer case fluid, but what do I put in there..... is it transmission fluid??
,thats what appears to be in there now, but another thread on here said to use engine oil?? Also how do you know when its full? same as tranny, just keep pumping till it comes out....Car in neutral running? Thanks Ryan |

Re: What fluid goes in the transfer case?? Feel stupid for asking, lol!!
Engine oil. I've read many USA owners spec'ing 5W/30. I use 10W/40.
No need to run the engine - fill until oil reaches the filler plug (which will have 'Engine Oil' cast into it's head). Tips: Remove the fill plug first (as a check before you open the drain plug). Be careful with the casing threads - they are tapped into alumin[i]um but the plugs are steel. Don't over-tighten - Isuzu use 'O'-rings as seals not crush washers. |
