McLaren F1 LM replica - Made in Taiwan

The donor car is a rather disappointing choice, but surprisingly he's doing a fairly decent job with the bodywork so far compared to some others we have seen in the past.

Yahoo Blog - McLaren F1 LM replica

You have to click the thumbnail images to open each blog entry where you'll find more/larger pics.

There's another page of images here which I did not see linked from the page up above.

YEP.... replica is good an idea if you don't care things. But deep in his soul the owner knows it's far from an orginal LM. And that's lacks everything.

Could I suggest ride height and side-mirror depth? Also the slope at the back over the engine - no one ever gets that part right, it seems to be all replicas' biggest stumbling block.

I'm actually confused - are all the 'finished product' shots actually a real LM? I assume they must be, in which case my above comments still stand.

Wheelbase looks too long side window line seems too high and rear haunches too deep, wonder where they sourced the windscreen from?

I was surprised to see how well the proportions are (esp the front) when I opened the link. The A-pillar looks a little too wide and the side windows look a little too small, but that may be due to the work in progress status...

Yes - any pictures you see in finished form at this point are examples he's using of the real thing. As for the ride height, there's very little weight in the car at this point so that's to be expected.

He added an update in the past 24 hours showing the rear grille assembly.

I should clarify that I am not a fan of replicas, but to build something like this from scratch and even come as close to the real thing as this guy has done deserves some admiration.

Wel it is a quite good effort but he has somewhat gon a bit overboard in the spaceframe he has built there are far simpler and more elegant ways to go but then it deends what he has at his disposal. It is'nt clear if he is replecating the centre seating position orleaving it left hand drive, that in it;s self would ruin it anyway.
