Door Lock Actuators

2002 LS V8

Anybody ever replace the power door lock actuator? Both right side doors no longer electronically lock. I can hear the actuators trying to lock and I can see the locks levers on in the car move a little but the locks won't engage. I can lock them manually but from outside you can still open the doors on the second pull of the door handle (doing that will trigger the alarm).

Since I am replacing the window regulator and motor this weekend I may as well do the lock actuator and roll out a couple door dings too while I'm in there. Then I will get to replacing the rear subwofer. all work and no play...

Re: Door Lock Actuators

The power lock actuator is an integrated part of the door latch assembly. The door latch assembly is easy to replace, there's just three screws holding it in and one catch to release. I haven't taken one apart, but I know someone who had the same issue you do. He removed and disassembled the latch and found a small lever out of place. He put it back in place and lubed the assembly. AFAIK, it's still working today.
