BMW right front grabbing

I have a 2001 330ci and there is a random grabbing in the right front. It is almost like brakes are being applied only in the one quadrant. It is an instant grab and release with a seviere right pull. Noise is a instant grinding sound. It almost sounds like metal to metal. Grab is so pronounced that at higher speed one could lose control of vehicle.

Any ideas would be gretly appreciated

Re: BMW right front grabbing

remove wheel and inspect the front brake pads/rotor/caliper/hose

heck, might as well remove both front wheels and inspect

better yet, bring it to a garage... some will do a visual check on the brakes for free

if you have a personal mechanic, let him inspect it if you're not mechanically inclined

just do it ASAP since this is dangerous

Re: BMW right front grabbing

I recently had front control arm bushings replaced. It reduced the problem greatly. Before the problem would result in severe vibration in brake pedal and steering column. This has been resolved but the grabbing is still occuring in the vacinity of the right front wheel..
