TCC Lock up when warm / Code 742/ Which solenoid is the TCC solenoid?

I have a 2000 Olds Intrigue V6-214 3.5L, My Torque Converter locks after good and warmed up. A code 742 comes on when this is happening. I’ve looked into replacing the TCC solenoid or I’ve read where you can cut the wire going to the TCC.

If I cut the wire (not what I really want to do) I’m not sure which wire to cut. I need to find a good wiring diagram.

If I replace the solenoid (I think I am capable) I’m not sure which one to replace. I work part time at Auto Zone and they list the lockup solenoid the same as one of the shift solenoids. If it is one of these which one is I’m assuming it would be the 2-3 shift solenoid. There is also the TCC Pulse Width Modulation Solenoid valve assembly. I can’t find a straight answer to which is which.

Thanks Steve H.

My 2000 Intrigue also does this occaisionally. The code is P0742, TCC PWM solenoid stuck on, translated as "Torque Converter Clutch Pulse Width Modulator solenoid stuck on". I always cringe as the tranny slams into each gear, and wonder what is possibly getting shredded in there.
It does seem to happen more in hot weather, or anyway when the engine/transmission is at full temperature.
There should be a good deal of info on the site if you search for P0742 or TCC. From others' posts, I gather that it is quite a job to replace any of the solenoids, including the PWM solenoid.
I'm debating about installing the 4T65-E shift kit from ZZ Performance (that too, should be searchable), or their web site is:

I'm sure I heard about them from a post on this forum. Not sure whether it would help this issue or not, but seemed like a good thing to do.

Re: TCC Lock up when warm / Code 742/ Which solenoid is the TCC solenoid?

the TCC solenoid is located on the side panel of the transmission i had this issue and i brought it to a transmission place he said it was rebuild even through transmission fluid was good and there was no shavings so i brought it to a second independent guy who knew his stuff he ended up replacing the TCC solenoid and the channel plate which were both accessible through the side panel and then also transmission fluid flush and filter change this repair was about 650 but thats much more doable then 2 grand for rebuild needless to say i did this about 50k ago and i have not had issue since
