cruise missiles - A potential terrorist weapon?

This Kiwi reckons they're relatively easy to build.

And unlike most internet commentators,he's prepared to back his claims.

i like the way he's detailing everything so that should someone look at that sight it would make it easier to build such a device. I think he's gonna get in trouble if someone where to do such a thing because he would've been the one who told them how to do it.

I'd say nice way to prove a point but could easily become hugely irresonsible.

Altho less we forget the US military controls the GPS systems and all they need to do is reprogram a couple of satellites and make the missile land in the middle of the ocean or something. Is it possible to do that quickly or does it A) take a ridiculous amount of time or B) slighly too James Bondish ?

Well, if they reprogram the satellites, you won't only have cruise missiles landing in the ocean, you'll have airliners doing that too, ships cruising into rocks etc...

This is an interesting discussion. It brings up freedom of speech points.

How much info is too much? I personally am against the publishing of any such info, due to the possibility it could be used to kill me.

But then it could be argued that that would be limiting freedom of speech.

An interesting concept. Im going to research this a bit, then post some full thoughts on the matter.

I don't see how the person publishing the info can be held responsible if somebody chooses to use the info to build a missile and inflict harm....

That's like argueing that teaching somebody to use a handgun makes you responsible if they kill somebody.....you taught them how to use the gun, you didn't make them use one to kill somebody.

As it is, you can buy those toy rockets that could be used to just as a destructive end as anything else if somebody wanted to.....what then?

Yup.

Firing a handgun and building a cruise missile arnt exactly in the same league.

But Joe Homegrown terrorist isnt going to have access to this kind of stuff at all...until he reads it on the internet.

Larger groups MAY have the capability, but still....

I didn't say they were the same thing, my point is that just because the guy published how to do it doesn't mean somebody has to go and do it.
You can't hold him responsible for the decisions other people make.

As it is, if a person is that intent on building a cruise missile, they will find the info some place or another.

They will, which brings us back round to my original post. This sort of infomation (not just this guys) should not be on the net, nor anywhere.

thats all fine as long as none of them land into any of our skyscrapers.

doesnt anyone remember that we have interceptor missles as defense.
I pity the fool who launches a cruise missle at us . We'll "liberate" you if we just think you have WMD's. Imagine what we'll do if you launch something at us. We'll "liberate" all your countries !!!
