2001 Park Ave lost remote function
I looked through the archives and did not see this problem addressed on the newer models. So here goes...
Yesterday, I went to move my car back into the garage and hit the unlock button on the keyfob and nothin'... I changed the battery on the keyfob and again, nothin'... I got the #2 remote out and tried it, and, you guessed it, nothin'. This includes the locking, unlocking and trunk release buttons. I actually did not try the panic button on either remote. (I was afraid I'd set off the alarm and then not be able to turn it back off again ). Up until this time, I have been driving the car and using the remote with no problems.Everything else seems to be in working order. The car starts/runs as it should. I don't have any idiot lights on (e.g. "Security") as I drive the car. The power door locks work as they should, including the automatic locking when putting the car in gear, unlocking when putting the car in park, delayed locking when exiting the car. It just seems like the remote function just went toes-up and died all of a sudden. In all honesty, I don't NEED this function. It's nice to have, though, especially with the "perimeter lighting" feature when unlocking the car at night. Any ideas on what to do to fix this problem???

Re: 2001 Park Ave lost remote function RESOLVED
UPDATE:
Well, I started digging through other GM products on Automotive Forums to find some direction on this situation and found someone who had a similar problem with their Buick Regal. The suggestions to that person included "resynching" the remote or disconnecting the battery from the car for at least 10 minutes. My mechanic also recommended disconnecting the battery to do a "hard reset" of the car's computer. The "resynching" thing did not work, so I moved on to disconnecting the battery. After 30 minutes, I reconnected it and viola! I have remote keyless entry function again!

Howdy, I also am having some of the same remote problems. My question is what procedure did you use in disconnecting the battery. I know that the auto a/c temp control needs to be shut off. But I am not sure about the correct procedures for disconnecting the battery. Do I disconnect the negative first and then positive next. Wait 20-30 minutes. Your input would be most helpful. Thanks.
