Got New Wheels! How do i look after them?
Hey all,
Just got a new set of wheels for my lancer, they are 17x7.5 with 205/40zr17's.... Wotcha's think? Whats the best way to look after them? I wanna keep em looking good as new! I've read about wheel wax on here, but as far as i know it isn't available in australia.... Would normal car wax/polish do much the same thing? JayMan

Nice wheels but i prefer a higher profile tire. anyway i purchased a set of new wheels about a year and a half ago and let me tell you it's a constant to keep them looking good. any good chrome/mag polish will work, but i just use regular mother's carnuba wax each time i wax my car and that seems to keep them looking great. i've had many people ask me what i do to keep them looking good and that's about it. only thing is i wash/wax my car and wheels at least once every two weeks, sometimes every week. even in the winter i go to the car wash and then would pull out the wax and polish the wheels. Mcquire's cleaner wax works well too. I think the key is to keep a constant coat of wax on the wheels and this seems to work for mine. in between polishing when washing the car, i use Mcquire's tire/wheel cleaner. you just spray it on and wash it off and the wheels come out sparkling like new. good luck!

Ahhh mothers carnuba wax is what i use on my car also.... So just using that on the wheels will protect them good? Hmm speaking of that i need to buy another tin of mothers....
I noticed mothers also has a "mag and aluminium polish/protection", would that be any good? Would i still need to give it a coat of wax after using that? JayMan

Not aware of a Wheel Wax equivalent that's available in Australia, carnauba wax would probably be your best substitute. The key is to avoid using anything that would damage the finish.

Bimmer, i'd love to, but its not that easy. I'm in the middle of fitting a bodykit, and the driveway where i live it a rear pain in the a$$ cuz of the angle... I need to get bodykit fitted and then check howmuch clearance there is before i go lowering the car.
