Hubs will not release

I have a 94 ford F150 4x4 and i had to use the 4wheel drive today and when i took it out of 4 wheel drive the hubs will not release. I backed up several feet pounded on the hubs with a mallet and it still wont release. How do i fix this problem? Is there anything else i can do?

I had an issue like this - backed up like 30 feet while turning the wheels left to right. That worked for us. Good luck!

Re: Hubs will not release

I ended up taking them apart to find that someone else converted them to manuel and just threw the autos back on to sell it. I think not 100% sure but when i took one side apart the lock washer was loose and neither one was close to being lock in with the C slip. So i bought a set of warns and another conversion kit. But it ended up being the U joint in the front axle was froze up. I think that is the reason i thought it was still in 4 wheel. But thanks for your input.
