Question about Opera windows...

Curious if anyone has any experience in removing Opera window trim on a 76-79 Tbird? I'd like to repaint the pitted and faded black on the inside of the trim, but not sure if I can take these off...

Also does anyone know if the black was originally glossy or was it a flat (matte) finish?

Re: Question about Opera windows...

Again, if you are going to be working on this car you should buy the factory shop manuals which have a lot more information then Chilton manuals The manuals on Ebay are cheap money for what you get. Along with the electrical manual there are chassis, body and drivetrain manuals. It would be easier to mask off the areas, sand and then paint. Most of the trim blacks were a semi gloss. An automotive paint dealer should be able to give you the correct color.

Re: Question about Opera windows...

Ya, I bought one on Ebay for 8 bucks- great deal... should be here in a week, thanks for the lead.

I'm thinking I will just mask this off and work on it rather than taking them off- no worries with leaks that way.

THANKS much 97 for the help so far.
