AMT 49' Mercury

This is a kit I finished about half a year ago. Basically to start with, I got rid of the side pillar and the window supports. It sat completed for a while and annoyed me everytime I walked past. I wanted to chop the roof but I didn't know how and didn't have the guts to chop it. One night I said, stuff it! I'm finally going to chop it. I basically chopped the roof around 7mm and extended the back of the roof with a piece of a 1953 Belair and putty. I also changed the wheels to wheels from my Revell 29' Pickup.

I am happy with the result. I am just annoyed that I showed it to my mum and she rain her fingers along the paint to feel the flat balck and she scratched it with her rings. MUM! I gave it rat rod look with the flat black and no trim. This was my first try at putty so I'm still getting use to it!

please comment to give me advice,

F.C

Hey nothing ventured nothing gained . No doubt that its a rat rod. I'm glad that you took the leap & tried something new. This hobby has so much to offer if one just steps out of the box every now & then. Look forward to your next project.Good luck.

Thanks for your reply!

Since I am only new to this hobby (15 years old) I might post what looks crapy in some of your eyes but Flamingo made a point!

Re: AMT 49' Mercury

i think it looks great. If you dont try it , you'll never get good at it. Its nice to build a kit thats completley out of the box every once in a while for me, but for the most part i try doing something different to every model i build, keeps it unique and interesting, innovation is fun, and civilization wouldnt be anywhere w/out it
