2001 Grand Am 2.5L Valve cover removal
Just a simple question I need answered. Are the valve covers attached to the timing cover plate. If they are, what is involved to remove the valve covers.

2.4 liter?
Yes, the front timing cover will need to come off and there will be a couple of bolts that attach the timing housing to the cam covers

Re: 2001 Grand Am 2.5L Valve cover removal
the bolts are located behind the cam timing chain sprockets...ran into this problem on mine too...gotta save up a bit for a new timing chain (if I'm taking it off might as well replace it specially with 120k miles) and housing gasket.
