Re: Fast lap
Yup, your the only one. They should hold a major sports car race there. It's a great track. Maybe a 10 hour race or something. They could invite some of the European teams over to compete. I'm sure it would be a hit.:sarcasm1:

Re: Fast lap
I drove RA in 2004 when we first got the first GTS. Bone stock with 17" rims and 285 dunlop slicks on all corners. We ran high 37's and low 38's. I have not been back. I would guess we would break the 30's but thats a guess.....
What do NASA ST1 and SCCA GT2's run? I am asking a buddy who runs both and will post when he tells me.

Re: Fast lap
Ok....My buddy who happens to be local to Road Atlanta holds the "SCCA STO track record in qualifying (1.28.9) and race (1.29.9). SCCA STO rules means DOT tires, a min weight of 3150lbs and I have to use a restrictor...so ~443rwhp. 3150/443=7.1; well off the 5.5 ratio allowed in ST1. But suprisingly nobody else in ST1 has broken 1:30. I haven't raced NASA since last year.....I could take the restrictor out, and 200lbs and run slicks and easily turn a 26."
So I guess a properly sorted and driven Stock GTS should be close to 1:30-2 and an equally sorted ST1 GTS should be in the 1:26's Now that is with new tires, etc etc....with a crew setting the car up etc etc....

Re: Fast lap
that isn't me saying that. Its all in quotes from Bob Mayer #38 Corvette.
I ran 37/38's with an old GTS on 17's and 285 dunlops back in 2004. I thought that my car should break 30's but was guessing. Bob Mayer confirmed that he thinks around 26's for an ST1 spec car.

Re: Fast lap
Have you guys been able to determine that buying wider tires helps mask a lack of talent? I'm hoping that is the case with me.

Re: Fast lap
Oops, sorry Brian. I didn't catch that. Well I'm happy with my 1:37 last Saturday, it was a personal best for me and I felt like I was actually beginning to understand this sport. I like to think that someday i could get into the 20's, but that's just so far away that I just don't see it happening, not in this car anyway.
