Shorter Dog Bones?
I have a local GTP friend who is getting rid of some shorter dog bone mounts and wanted to know if I wanted them.
What are the pros/cons? If it were any of you guys giving them to me, I'd probably go for it but this guy is one of those guys who will mod his car with no thought of the damage he's doing. ![]() Does changing the position of the engine hurt anything?

Re: Shorter Dog Bones?
Well, I certainly don't see how it would help anything..

Re: Shorter Dog Bones?
There is a purpose for shorter dog bone engine mounts but not for a stock GP.
Have your friend throw them in the trash unless you plan on lowering your car well over 1 inch. The purpose of shorter dog bone engine mounts is to compensate for the engine/transaxle geometry change (lower and different angle) and relieve stress on the drivetrain.

Re: Shorter Dog Bones?
Ah, okay. He tried telling me that it puts more weight to the front of the car and helps with launching off the line (so the car doesn't lurch back as much). BS?

Re: Shorter Dog Bones?
I agree with Bob, The only reason I have heard of installing shorter dogbone mounts is if your car is lowered.

Re: Shorter Dog Bones?
Quote:
It has enough weight on the front end as it is since it is FWD. Bad part is any motor tilt out of normal geometry by using shorter dog bone engine mounts puts stress on the lower engine mounts and sooner or later the rubber insulator will break in half. Also, on GTPs whether modded or not the issue is traction not weight transfer.
