Viper GTS Progress

Hello everyone, this is my first post.

This is my first model that i've done in about three years, and its the first time that i've tried to do detailed painting. Any comments and help is much appriciated.

This part came chromed and it just didnt look right so i repainted it all

I indended for this kit to have nitrous, but the nitrous system that I wanted goes under the intake, so it wouldn't be seen. I guess I'll but the injectors in the intake pipes befor the throttle bodies.

The detail on this looks much better in person, but you get the idea.

Also, is there a way to do heat discoloration without using transperant paints? I've read the article on tamiya.com but I dont have an airbrush and i dont have any transperant paints. When I try, the colors dont look realistic at all. Anybody have experiance hand brushing this kind of discoloration?

welcome!

You did a great job just for your first time!

Beautifull!
As for the dscoloration on the exhausts, once I was out of clears, and mixed about 2/10th of orange and thinner, makes it nice transparent.
But as you sid before, the colours don't look that realistic, but are a nice addition to the models.
Hope somebody with more skills can answer that question correctly!

Enjoy your stay and kee^p the progress coming.

Btw, watch out for the hood on the viper, it's pretty dificult to get to close right.

Nice job!

Best way to replicate heat discolorationwithout an airbrush, I guess, would be to 'drybrush' it. That is, flood the brush with paint, then squeeze it with a towel so that all the wet part of the paint is absorbed. What's left on the brush is the pigment, which you can then brush on as desired. Hopefully it'll give better results. Hope this helps
