its drop in if you can find an a motor with an a/t tranny. and i recommend having a shop do the work. and the can probably order the motor and of course all other parts you want as well.

and i honestry recommend staying auto. i know stick is more fun. right now i prefer stick, but what about 5years from now... im sure ill get sick of it. i was talking to a racer friend of mine(at the track ofcourse, no bs illegal street shit). and i asked him, when youre not at the track, and just cruisin around town wouldnt you like auto better, and he said yes. and since i wont be going down the strip, i plan on staying a/t. and you can always get a level10 shiftronic and torque converter.

h22a auto swap

Just to let you know I have an 96 accord lx w/ auto transmission. I am currently in the process of an h22a swap. I am keeping it auto but it is a pain to do. I have a shop doing it and they are having all kinds of complications b/c the ecu's dont match well. Many people will tell you that it is much easier converting to a 5 speed but ill will find out exactly what is needed for the auto swap and ill post a message later.

well your current stock tranny isnt going to be compatible with the h22 tranny, but that doesnt matter cause when you buy a swap it comes with tranny.

and as for the ecu not working with the new tranny, you should not do that anyways. you need a new one and it should have come with the motor.

Been there done that H22 swap... Must say I still love it!

Hit me up if you got any questions.. my email is [email protected]

My recommendation on the tranny issue, and again my opinion only;

5 speed conversion is the best way to go. Automatics are cool to cruise around town in, yes I agree with that. But thats why you get a second car.

If your going to drop all that money into an engine swap and keep it an automatic; your wasting your money.. An H22 is a powerhouse and to fully unleash its power, this is best utilized through a 5 spd. Thats my opinion...

If you just wanna cruise around town, by all means do so, but save your money, and keep what you got..

I have a 5 speed with a Stage 1 clutch and have no quams with cruising around in, but thats me....

Good luck in whatever you do, but if you got any swap question hit me up.. Also check out

www.h22a.org as they have the swap info that you'll probably find most useful for the 4th and 5th gen...

Peace
~J-Rok~

I see your point, but I am keeping the auto tranny for medical reasons I have a bum leg and although I can drive a 5 speed it just becomes to much on a daily basis for me leg to take ..
If I need an advice regarding the swap I will hit you up .

well, I see you point in the bum leg thing, but there's no better feeling than hitting the gas in 1st, letting it ride up to 6500 rpm and dropping it right into 2nd, and blasting to 62 MPh (stock tranny gear rating).. automatics, are fun to drive every once in a while, but man I love stick shift... when I was looking for a car a while ago all I wanted was a stick shift.. now automatics feel so foreign to me (still trying to find the clutch pedal...). As for engine swaps, trading out an automatic for another automatic is kinda pointless... automatic transmissions can't handle the torque that a standard can, nor does it offer the control that a standard has.. plus you can control how fast you go much easier, and not have to worry about your auto revving too high (having problems with sisters auto revving too high)
