Unhappy 02 T&C AWD-need help

trouble codes p0442 &po445. Changed gas cap. It has been checked as best possible manually for leaks. Bubbles or spit like on trainny dip stick. Did this about a year ago and may have still been doing it, but it upgraded itself from a mall leak to a large leak. Heard about purge vent solenoid, but can't seem to find info to see if it would be that. What is it, Where is it, and do you have info that could help even a unknowledgeable person like me narrow down and fix?

Re: 02 T&C AWD-need help

There are some evap hoses under the car under the drivers seat area near the charcoal canister (large block box) that are prone to cracking. Especially the larger diameter one. Check all the rubber hoses for cracks especially where the connect to wherever they are going.

purge is near the passenger front headlamp area, remove the air box and it'll be easier to see, also check evap purge hose harness...

Re: 02 T&C AWD-need help

these are good replies to your post, if they do check out ok for you under the van check the smaller hoses, almost hidden, or may be hidden, by your drive belt, they are towards rear of drivebelt, bottom of air cleaner, there is pvc hose in rear of engine too, maybe use a mirror, worked for me. and of course there are a couple/few on the top intake by ign coil, check for cracks, loose fitting, maybe bend the hose alittle by where its connected for cracks, be careful not to get any debis in where it connects, can clog and cause other problems...hope this helps.....

****the one under air cleaner is best inspected by taking off air cleaner top and bottom housing, one screw by passenger headlight removes the bottom air cleaner housing, lift up on it and should come off. the hose is on fender edge by motor mount, its just a small piece that connects one tube going one and one going the other...you can get a better view of another under air intake as well...

Re: 02 T&C AWD-need help

sorry to bother you, but you were right on the location, but I am still confused. The dealer gave me a part that he said was the one, but it is not a box (more like a canister, but not exact). It is just there attached next to the headlamp with a plug that has two prongs. I would assume the dealer is right, but low confidence on that. I had read on another reply to a post for a different vehicle that the voltage should be 12.7 and the other is a ground. I am not sure if it would be the same for mine. I am only getting .03 with just key on and only .07 with car running. If the voltage isn't enough then I know I have to trace it back. Then someone told me that the temperature sensor was before this wire to the purge solenoid so replace that. My confusion is that why would my van temp. be running right if the sensor was bad? It doesn't make sense and so I was wondering if you had anymore answers. If not anyones help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
