Oil Feed line.

K a friend of mine has a 97 i think gsx. The problem is, his feed line started to leak so he bought a new one. But to get him by till his new one comes in, he put a 5/8 transmission hose(which I know the original feed line is alot alot smaller) on. He has no leaks, but as soon as he cranked it up and drove it down the road it died.

Now it won't crank. He pushing to much oil cause the hose so big? Not sure if it's a fuel problem cause it ran fine before he put that hose on.

Re: Oil Feed line.

Too much oil to the turbo will cause the bearings to fry out on it. But it will only flow as much as the smallest hose allows it to. It won't cause the motor to shut off and not allow it to crank.

Re: Oil Feed line.

Turns out the 30amp motor fuse under the hood was blown. Put another one in and it blew within seconds. As soon as he gets on it, it blows.

Re: Oil Feed line.

Definitely have a short somewhere. Need to find out what's causing that.

Re: Oil Feed line.

All MHI turbos have built in oil restrictors. You can run as big of a hose as you want to it wont hurt anything.

Re: Oil Feed line.

Something is shorting either when the motor rocks in the mounts, or when the throttle cable moves (I've had the cable cut through my CAS wiring before and start a fire).

To give you a place to start, here's a list of things powered by the 12v MFI feed on a 2g turbo harness:

ECU (pins 25 & 12)
All 4 injectors (via resistor)
ISC
All 3 emissions solenoids
WG solenoid
MAF
Crank and Cam sensors
Front and Rear O2.

The rest of the 12v stuff in the engine harness is fed by the ignition switch, so you shouldn't have to worry about any of this:

Fuel pump relay
ECU pin 82
Coil pack
Transistor/Ignitor
Starter circuit
VSS
