Re: hid upgrade

Did you do the upgrade, or pay to have it done? Which kit was installed? Did you deviate from the instructions, or were there any portions of the instructions that weren't quite clear to you? Do they both blink together, or is it a somewhat random blink on each side? Do they only start to blink after they've been on for a while, or do they start blinking as soon as you turn them on? Do you have a DMM and understand how to use it?

Re: hid upgrade

People also sell "performance" resistors for the IAT sensors. It doesn't mean they do what they are advertised to do.

What error codes are these supposed to eliminate? Do you have error codes?

Re: hid upgrade

Well, I'll be da......

I was reading a thread on another forum regarding HIDs and stumbled across the following quote...
"Flickering issues are not fixed by a relay. The flickering issue is caused because people try to put hids on a car with a can bus system. With a relay harness it wont draw any power from the stock headlight wiring. The canbus thinks the bulb is out, so it will keep turning them on and off to try to correct this. You can get around this by getting the turn on signal from the driving lights instead of the headlight plug. I had to do this on my caliber. Companies kept on trying to make new harnesses by adding resistors but in the end it didnt work out very well. Sometimes it would even cause other electrical issues."

Apparently the CANBus monitors the headlight current draw which would help explain the need for a "code eliminator." I have learned my item for the day, I can go to bed now.
