Do i need to apply any kind of sealer before i hook it up to the engine? Or should i just keep it a dry seal?

on these gaskets I use permatex form a gasket sealant ..just coat the entire gasket very lightly let it set for 1/2hour then install...

on the water pumps mounting studs I use thread sealant...this on the threads will prevent thread rusting ...leaks etc...

Thread sealant on the bolts is all you need, I just install the gaskets "dry". Never had problems in 25+ years.

What he said ^^

In addition to that, I use weatherstrip adhesive to hold the gaskets in place, keeps them from moving when installing the pump.
