Malibu '07 knocking noise when turning..

I love this car - great on gas, and roomy, comfy. 60k on it. I just had new Monroe Struts and Monroe Shocks put on yesterday. I also had the brake fluid flushed out and new fluid put in, and I also had new front brake pads and the rotors shaved it little. And of course the every 3K miles oil change done. Oh, and I had a wheel alignment done - abviously. When the mechanic was removing the old struts, he said the driver's side Sway Bar fell apart so I had to get a new one.

Before the work, I noticed a knocking noise and it only happens when I am turning the wheel while driving (or) while turning the wheel when it's parked. I was hoping that the work would take care of the noise but it didn't. I did some searching on the Net and came up with one thing that needs adjusted - the steering rack - and it takes 2 hours. So Im here to see if anyone has had this same noise/problem and what was done to fix it. Also, is this something that can get worse if I ignore it? Any guidance is surely appreciated.

You may want to see if the coil spring is broken. Mine was. Here's how to do it. 1 person turns the steering wheel and another person looks at the coil spring, but be sure to keep your head out of the way.

Re: Malibu '07 knocking noise when turning..

You need to lubricate the Inner and Outer Steering Shaft... Read the first one on the list here TSB #060232007

Also a lot more info to read HERE, follow posts #2 and #12... disregard the advice to use PB Blaster as it will wash all lubrication off the shaft, making it more dificult to lubricate!
