'06 Rear Brake Pads

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not seeing how to back off the caliper piston so I can replace the pads. I consider myself to be pretty competent with auto repairs, but have never messed with one like this with the integrated parking brake. I tried applying pressure to the piston with a C-clamp but it wouldn't budge. The only thing I have been able to do is spin the end of the piston a few turns which seems to affect the position slightly. Am I on the right track? Can someone give me a hint?

you can get a inexpensive spanner tool that fits into the caliper piston face. rotate the piston clockwise untill it bottoms out. the piston indents should match the pins on the inboard pad (indents at 9 and 3 oclock usually). If you can't turn it by hand the piston is seized and requires replacement.

OK thanks. As I said in my post, the piston does seem to turn, so it sounds like thats how it works. Good information, thanks again.

So did you get them back far enough? I am taking on this job soon as well. Do you not have to back off the parking brake somhow???
