2002 Sebring LXi P0705

Hello,

My son is driving a 2002 Chrysler Sebring, 3.0 V6, Auto. The check engine light has recently come on, and the code is P0705, Transmission Range Sensor (PRNDL input).

99% of the time the car works perfectly; the other 1% I have symptoms that seem to be electrical in nature. Everything I have read so far points to the Neutral Safety Switch. I'm fairly comfortable with mechanical repairs, but what I have NOT been able to find is where this part is located. I have been told everything from "on the steering column" to "inside the transmission."

Can you please point me to the true location of this part? Photos and instructions would help too, but I'll be thankful for any information I get. I have read several posts for similar vehicles about cleaning/aligning this sensor, but again, no location, and nothing specific to the Sebring.

Thanks all!
