Question Question -97Taurus 3.0 vulcan heater coolant outlet

Anyone have experience with the repair of a rusted out coolant outlet at the Sensor Block? This is the Coolant outlet connector which comes off the Temp Sensor block near the Thermostat and is attached to the heater hose. Is a new Sensor block available or should a pipe fitting be threaded into the broken unit? I have already removed the old aluminum sensor block. Thanks for any help. jmas

Have you tried the dealer for a replacement part? Or maybe someplace like a "You Pull-it" auto parts yard? Used might be cheaper than a new one. I have yet to be unable to get parts from the dealer.

Re: Question -97Taurus 3.0 vulcan heater coolant outlet

Thanks for the Reply... I purchased a new part from the Local Ford Dealer ($25) and pressed it back on to the engine. I was however, able to repair the broken part by treading into it a 5/8 hose connector. That probably would have worked if a new part was not available. I didn't use the repaired part because it's a difficult part to get in and out, and I didn't want to take the chance of a leak ....
