Re: 22R Surfaces at Silverstone today

Wow - someone put a lot of effort into getting that one right as that is far from a livery you just spray up and slap some stickers on. I can't quite recall the last time we saw one of these longtail Gulf GTRs out in the sun and on a track - 13 years, I am guessing. Must have been a thrill for the Lanzante folks today.

Fabulous to see #22R appear again after so long being tucked away, even if it is not in one of the sinister black liveries from its final year of racing that so many might have preferred.

Re: 22R Surfaces at Silverstone today

How is it on accuracy?

Might give us an indicator of how good #27R will be considering it's the same people doing it.

Re: 22R Surfaces at Silverstone today

I've been comparing it with several reference photos I have from the 1997 Le Mans race and I don't think they missed an inch of the details. Quite a superb job bringing that livery back I'd say.

That looks brilliant! And its so great to see a Gulf longtail out on the track again.

F1GTRUeno, do you know when 027R might surface again when its finished?

Re: 22R Surfaces at Silverstone today

I don't have a clue unfortunately. Maybe some of the others on here who are much more in the know than me could hazard a guess?

My only knowledge of the company that re-created the livery for #22R came from a random image search on google.

They are called Colourbox Signs.

http://colourboxsigns.com/

You'll see images of #06R, #010R and #012R in their gallery.

http://colourboxsigns.com/mclaren-da...lourbox-signs/

Unfortunately not the best website, or best information but that clarifies who did it, and also on that site is this news.

http://colourboxsigns.com/mclaren-parabolica/

Posted about a month after the news on #22R so maybe we'll see something soon?

Re: 22R Surfaces at Silverstone today

Really nice to see 22R back in action, but as Erik noted, I am one of those who had preferred the LM'98 Loctite livery or even the FIA GT '98 Davidoff over this one as there are still 2 other longtail Gulfs around in their original (28R) or retrofit (20R) liveries. But anyway, really nice job on the livery!

Yes, it seems odd to paint 22R in LeMans livery, as it did not start the race, due to extensive fire damage. But we don,t own it and if the owner feels happy with it in this livery, good on him . It sure looks really well turned out after its repaint, lets hope it gets some more track action soon .

It's looking good but Loctite would have been better....IMO

Re: 22R Surfaces at Silverstone today

I believe up to last year you'd have found it wearing the Black/Red "Davidoff" livery you see below. However, this car has been out of the public eye in Thomas Bscher's collection for more than a decade.

That second image should be new for most here I think, as I just discovered it recently.

Re: 22R Surfaces at Silverstone today

Has anyone heard anything about whether it's changed hands?

Just maybe if it's still Bscher's we might see 03R at some point, just me being hopeful of course.
