Today i was crusing around and this old coupe mazda pulls up next to me, revs his engine, and ill i here is his damm turbo(I knew it was the bov/turbo) cause my one of my buds has it, but this one was way louder, anyways so i decide to race this guy and i murdered him , wtf? All i have is a jdm si and the regular bolt ons, why would his bov so loud and no power? Is there any way he could be imitating that sound? Its a Mazda, what do you expect......lol. Just kidding. I know when I first installed my turbo, the stock clutch wouldn't come close to holding the power. He may have the power, but no way to get it to the grownd.

Those old Mazda turbo cars only make like 120-130 HP. And those mazdas run like 7 PSI, he could have upped it to 9 or 10 very easily and got and aftermarket BOV. Also, he could have got a BOV that was set too low, and it has to get rid of all that air - that would make it much louder. Like if you are running 7 PSI, you should get an 8 PSI BOV, he could have gotten a 6 PSI BOV. Oh and one more thing, your friends probably have a much bigger turbo that take longer to spool, so just revving it with no load doesn't spool the turbo very much. But the turbo on a stock mazda is so dinky it has practically no lag and spools easily just revving the engine causing more air to be compressed than your friends cars. Understand what I mean by all this jibber jabber?

Think that's probably it. My 1989 Mazda Mx6 GT Turbo sounded quiet and docile stock. Bought an aftermarket BOV and installed it on the stock motor, before I did the turbo upgrade and it was definitely louder.
