clunking/resistance

My wife has a 1999 Windstar. When she turns the wheel to the left especially it seems as though something is stopping the wheels from turning, like something is binding. It is the worst when first starting out but gets easier to turn throughout the day but it never fully goes away. Thank you.

Re: clunking/resistance

Does it click when turning?? Does it feel like brakes are holding?? Have you checked all the front end compotents. Can you give us more details?? Which way does it pull when trying to drive??

I would suspect calibers sticking. Could also be a bad cv joint or wheel bearing.

I have not heard any clicking but when I put it in reverse it groans, it might be the brakes. It pulls to the left, thanks.

Re: clunking/resistance

Something that seems to stop the wheels from turning could also be tie rod ends and/or lower ball joints.
I would have it checked out by a mechanic.....they will be able to tell right away what the issue is.
It could be dangerous to continue driving the vehicle.....depending upon what the problem is....and how worn the part(s) is.
