1. The wrong way - Remove the bulb and ignore any problems or damage being done.
2. The right way - Have the diagnostic code(s) read by an OBDII scantool and begin the proper troubleshooting tests for each code. Then correct the fault(s). After that, the light will go back off. Many auto stores will read the codes for free. Ignore what they say they mean and post the exact code(s) read here.
