Timing Chain Question
Howdy,
I just changed head gasket on my 94 toyota 4x4 with 22RE. I am having trouble getting the chain and sprocket back onto the cam. The motor is still in the truck. I have the tensioner pushed in and have things lined up but like about a 1/16 of getting it to push on the dowel pin. I kept the chain tight when I took the sprocket off but is it possible to have a little kink in the chain on the crank gear teeth? I got it on with a lot of trouble before I put the engine back in the truck but had to take it back off because I didn't get the marks lined right with the cam. It didn't have any slack in it when I got it on the first time. I have it all lined up for sure this time but can't get it to slide on. According to the manual, I shouldn't have trouble getting the gear back on. Is there a trick to this? I spent 45 minutes trying to get that sucker back on with no luck. Something just not right. Any advice? Thanks. |
