ford thnder bird

my niece has a 1995 bird with the junk 3800 i told my old man it's intake gasket. ok hears what it dose when you start it the motor is missing and if i got hood up and he turns it off it go shhhhhh about the sound of a air brakes on a semi. and it is not the brake booster sounds like three of the brake booster leaking turning it off. i say intake gasget what do you all say??? he won't fess up he's hard headed. i no i can do a comp check on it but thats a waist of my time.

With the engine running, spray some WD-40 around the intake. If the engine speed changes you know you've found where the leak is. Head gaskets are a problem with the 3.8 engine so a compression check isn't a waste of time.

comp test to me is a waste of time for me i know it;s the intake is leaking but on the other hand it's not for head gasket you may be rite. like i said my old man is hard headed. if it was head gasket tho it would have water in the oil and you can let it run for 30 min. and wont over heat. but thanks for your in put. scrapper......
