Question H rated tires on a V rated GSR

Hey there, im planning to buy some new tires for my new 16" rims on my '94 Integra GS-R coupe. I ran across a deal on some Sumitomo HTR+ tires that I was thinking of getting. But heres the thing. My Integra is using a V rated tire which is the stock measurement of 195/55/15 some Michelin XGT stock tires that came with it. And these new Sumitomo tires which are going to be 205/40/16 are H rated tires, a letter below V rated ones. Is it ok to put on a set of H rated tires on my vechicle that came with V rated ones? Is my handling going to get worse or change?

Thanks!!!

If you’re planning of driving at speed over 130MPH then H rated tires are not for you.

The letter designations actually represent the maximum speed handling capability of each tire.

H-130mph (typically use for Sports Sedan)
V-149mph (typically use for Sports Cars)

The Integra being a sports car, capable of high top speed was given a V rated tires.

In my opinion, either tire will do, as long as you don’t exceed the speed rating. Just base your decision on how you normally drive your vehicle. The actual tire tread design and material will determine the ride quality and handling, not the speed rating.

Actually, I never have taken my Integra to as close as 120 MPH on the street or track. I don't think I would even dare to take it at that speed even on the street.

I asked a manager at this one tire place today and he said that it is okay to go down one letter grade and as long as all four tires are the same rating.
