Water in CAI

Today, it rained hard as hell in SoCal. My friend has a 94 Integ LS, with an AEM CAI, and got hydrolocked. He didn't know not to crank it, and did so. Regardless of what actually caused it, the puddle or the immediate cranking, there is now a "clack clack clack" sound. I think it's a bent rod...anyone have any insight? What should we do? Thanks.

glad i didn't go home this weekend. You can you be sure it hydrolocked? You gotta go pretty damn deep into a puddle esp. becasue of the dirt/water deflector on the bottom of where the cai should be.

the splash guard was cut away. however, we still dont know what to do. he is going to get it checked out, but what if its not just the rod thats bent? what if there is more damage? should we just swap out for a gsr? anyone?

if it got hydrolocked, you wouldnt be able to turn it over anyways, cuz water cant compress, and the damage probably occured wqhen it locked, not when he tried to crank it, imagine driving and your engine is spinning pretty fast, then water gos into the cylinder, piston starts going up, then it gets to a point where it cdant go anywhere, and your engine just stops, the crank is pushing up and at a high speed, then when the piston stops, all that force from the crank has got to go somewhere, and it probably will go right to the rod and bend it, but it would be much cheaper to take it out and rebuild it that to get a GSR swap, but if hes been wanting to for a while, its the perfect time to. or he could just get the B18c1 longblock and ECU/harness from a GSR and do some wiring work, and then you got the GSAR power and the lower rpm's on the freeway, wont be as fast as a normal GSR cuz of taller gearing tho.
