Question need help!!! with my k1500

I've got two problems that come and go. first is my speedo at times i well be driving and the speed just drops to zero and the come's back, and other times i have to disconect from the trany and reconect to get it working again. second is my in-dash brake light flashes 8 times and then stays solid for a few seconds. the funny thing is when my brake light on the dash start flashing i loose my speedo but when i get my speedo back working the dahm light stays flashing for a while then goes away. this happens about every three months and I want to know how to fix it.

Both systems reply on a signal from the VSS. If the signal is not present, the speedo will not display and the ABS controller will not activate. Once the signal returns, the speedo will display and the ABS controller will perform its power-on self test just as if the vehicle had just been started.

Check the connections in the VSS circuit and the sensor itself.
