88 22R runs wide open...
Hi, I just bought a 88 2wd that runs wide open when you start it. i was messing with the linkage a bit to see if anything is bound up, and once i felt something move but i didnt see what and i jumped in and started it and it ran fine for a couple starts, and then it went back to running wide open immediately after start. when looking from the front of the truck, the "barrel" on the right side of the carb can be manually closed before starting, and even without hitting the accelerator to start it will start and and that side will open up. anyone got any ideas?

Re: 88 22R runs wide open...
well, im sure now that i found the issue. i had noticed that if i held the choke open (the left barrel top flap) and looked inside, even with the linkage totally free, the throttle butterfly on the primary was open all the way. so i decided its time to pull this carb (i didnt want to because i know for a fact this carb was rebuilt about 1500miles ago, if that much)... and the butterfly stayed on the spacer/gasket. the screws that hold it to the throttle rod broke (trash getting in because my sister ran it without an air filter?) so as far as i can tell all i need to do is replace the screws... and yes, i was already successful in removing the broken screws via pliers.

It sounds like you have it figured out
