285/75/r16 vs. 265/75/r16
Alright so the tires I choose will be going on my 1992 K1500 with a 2" lift. So i know both will fit but which ones in your opinion are the better tire to put on it. What are the pros and cons of each? This truck will be mainly a daily driver but it will see quite a bit of off road time as well during the fall and winter due to hunting season. So which is the better choice over all and why?
Thanks in advance Wesley |

Re: 285/75/r16 vs. 265/75/r16
There's no real difference in the two as far as performance is concerned. If you're going to use all terrain, they'll be loud at highway speeds, period. On/off road tires are better tuned for the road but will sacrifice some of the lug cleaning ability that ATs have.
265 vs 285...you get about 2cm wider contact patch and a slightly taller tire. The main issue would be if the wider tire will rub against anything in the wheel wells as the suspension travels and going lock-to-lock with the steering. I'll note that the OEM tires were 225/75/15 or 235/75/15...these are notably smaller in circumference than what you're looking at. A change this dramatic will require recalibration of the speed sensor (since you mention it will be a daily driver) to keep your speedomoeter and odometer correct. Good luck!
