Alright, I'm new to the Subaru area and kinda clueless as to what all good cars for rally and stuff subaru offers. I kinda figured the impreza would be great for rally, but what would you suggest being a good rally car that isn't too expensive and good learning car?
I am thinking about getting another car later down the line and wish to use it to rally some in, along with daily driving, and the main cars i know that are most likely good at rally, are Lancer EVO, and Subaru, and the EVO is most likely way out of my price range.

ive seen some 510s and a volvo 240 that have done well in rally. imo an older car would be what i would want. id never forgive my self if i hugged a tree in a nice wrx or evo

well i kinda figured imprezas were great rally cars, just figured this would be the best place to ask about a rally car.
Basically im looking for a cheap, good or decent, rally car, that can also be street drivable. Just looking for a good beginning car that i won't be too worried about beatin the crap out of. And I see your point on the EVO and WRX, don't know what I would do if i wrecked one of those.

a good rally starter would be a subaru justy because they have all wheel drive in a festiva looking car and can be found dirt cheap (had a blown head gasket $150)and you can still find turbos for those things

Yeah if you don't got the $$$ to wreck a WRX the 2.5RS is a great alternative. Same body for the most part, increased displacement, but with the loss of the turbo. But you could always buy a turbo kit pretty cheap for these things

I got another question real quick, What about an older model celica? the one with the round headlights, like the one on Initial D for anyone who has watched it.

Do you have a lot of money to spend? Cuz if not, you'd be better off getting some old beater to rally with till you're confident you're not gonna stuff the car into a tree. Also, racing in a 2wd class will be cheaper than a 4wd class.
The celicas of that body style would make, IMO, a prett crappy rally car. We don't get the AWD version in america of that body style, but we do get the AWD of the body style before that, and that would make a decent cheap awd rally car. Sorry I don't know the year models. |
