Just out of curiousity, has anyone on this board either completed, or attempted to complete, one of Accurate Minatures McLaren M8B kits?

I have 3 AM kits. The 2 Corvette Grand Sports, and the 1970 M8B.

The McLaren M8B is the most detailed.
I'll start the M8B soon. I've been considering using the vinyl pieces as a template, and replace them with real braided hoses.

The instruction book alone is intimidating. It's as thick as a short novel, but full of interesting facts about the car an the era of Can-Am.

Are you starting it?

The only one I've ever seen completed is on the box. HAHA.

I might be building one on commission soon, and my Dad has one for himself. I'm appropriately intimidated, but I also want to swipe the driveline for my Corvair project.

Looking forward to building one of these one day, have two on the shelf. Sounds like there are a few problems with them but the potential for a killer model is apparent. A shame AM went out of business, would have been interesting to see what else they might have done.

Why? Whats wrong with them? I've seen the M8B built in Tamiya Model mag and it looked amazing! I don't recal the modeler saying it was very difficult.
