1998 Regal GS will start but dies/ stalls after 30 min of driving

i just bought the regal recently and one day driving to work which is like a 30 minute drive the car just shuts down on me i cranked it back up and after the first turn it did it again, so far Ive changed the fuel filter and started using cleaner gas and still the same so im turning to my forum buddies for help so here's how it happen,

im driving and driving then i notice the rpm gauge jumping then the car starts to ride very stuttery like im low on fuel and less then 10 secs later or on the next turn it just dies out, the steering stiffs up and its done, but it will crank right back up every time i want it too

Re: 1998 Regal GS will start but dies/ stalls after 30 min of driving

I'd start by checking some connections. Make sure the battery cables are clean & tight. I'd also try reseating the wiring harness at the ICM & crank sensor. I recall a thread where a guy's 2000 Bonneville would stall when he took right hand turns, he ended up finding a fuse that was a little loose in the holder.

sounds like a failing CKPS to me. Does the trac-off and/or ABS lights illuminate as it starts to stutter?

As already suggested, it sounds like a failing CKPS from here.

Replace it. The CKPS is located behind the harmonic balancer. You will need a special puller (shown below) to attach to the balancer for removal.

No. Not a MAF sensor based on the symptoms. For the third time you have a failing crank position sensor. The tach acting up before the stall is classic and you may get a TRAC OFF light on the IP Cluster when it stalls.
