Problems With Steering.

Hey Everyone, Got A Slight Problem.
First Off I Own A 1992 Caprice, With The 5.0.

The Other Day I Had To Jump A Curb At Around 35 MPH In Order To Avoid An Accident, And Now Every Time I Accelerate, At Around 30 To 40 MPH, The Steering Wheel Jerks From Left To Right Pretty Violently, But Is Controllable.

A Little More About The Incident, I Jumped The Curb At About 35 MPH With The Brakes Fully Engaged, And I Had To Jerk the Wheel To The Right, And Impacted The Curb At Roughly A 45 Degree Angle. The Only Visible Damage Was To The Passenger Side Front Rim, Which Had Been Dented Pretty Bad, But Has Since Been Replaced. The Curb Itself Was About A 6" Curb, That Led To Some Grass And A Sidewalk.

Also About 2 Months Ago, I Replaced All 4 Shocks.

If Anyone Knows What Could Be Causing This, Or What I Should Be Looking For, It Would Be Greatly Appreciated.

It seems as if you have definitly bent something other than the rim.

Take it to an alignment shop. Have them inspect the front end for bent or damaged parts, especially the control arms, arm mounts, spindles, tie rods, drag link, ball joints and steering knuckle. Chances are that one tire will show damage as well.

Also have them measure the frame (horizontally and vertically) to make sure its not tweaked.

first you should inspect all steering componets for damage, wear , looseness...the wheel that impacted the curb I am very sure has a bent spindle..this is the steel that the wheel bearing rides on...this metal is a softer temper and will bend easy...

lastly the front end will need an alignment..

Hey Thanks For The Help So Far Guys. But I Got One Last Question About This. Could It Be Possible That Maybe A Rear Tire Could Cause This? I Only Ask Cuz, Earlier Today, I Blew The Right Rear Tire, While Drivin About 5 MPH. I Changed It Out With Proally The Oldest, Worst Spare Tire In History, And There Were No Vibrations, Or Violent Jerking. Could That Tire Have Caused It, Or Could This Spare Be So Crappy It Evens It Out?
