Help 95 LTC Fan Clutch
Hello Everyone, I realize this is a F-150 board, but I thought someone could give me a hand... I have a 95 Lincoln TownCar. I just replaced the ENTIRE a/c system, condenser, evap, comp, drier, all lines and switches (Brand new parts, not remaned). With all this said, the pressures are normal, and when I am at a red light, it doesn't blow cold air like its does when i'm driving. I have replaced the Radiator last year, and the cooling fan motor as well, the heater core got replace 2 years ago and I resealed the Plenum. The thermostat gets replaced yearly. If I raise the RPM, it blows cold until you let off the gas. My best guess is that I am not getting enough air through the condenser. So I went ahead and replaced the fan clutch using Advance Auto Junk. Made it worse. Went to the dealership and bought one from them and same problem as with the original one.
So Does any one know if a Fan clutch from a 4.6 F-150 (or any other vehicle) would fit a 95 Town Car? Or does any one know where I can get a better quality/heavy duty fan clutch? Appreciate all the help.... Bryan

A fan clutch is pretty much a fan clutch when it comes to a viscous coupling. I'm assuming you replaced the compressor. Did you vac the system down before you recharged it? You may have too much oil in the system also. What are your pressure readings at idle?

Yup, did all this. Pressures are normal., I put one of those circle fans construction workers use to dry out a building in front of the car, as it was parked out side in direct sunlight. When I turned the car on, I let it runs for 25 minutes, it blew out 63 degrees in the middle vent. I turned the fan one and aimed it at the grille, and it blew out 42 degrees. Outside temp today was 87 degrees with about 81% Humidity. I know its a cooling problem. I went to the part store today, and grabbed a water pump for my car, and then a fan clutch for a 97 F150, they thread up with out a problem. The only thing I need to do no is take off my clutch and see if the 4 fan blade holes will line up to the F150 clutch. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You replaced the condensor so there isn't a bunch of crap between it and the radiator. Easy fix would be to add a helper electric fan. The stock fan just probably doesn't move enough air at idle obviously. You won't need a huge fan since the goal is to change the refrigerant from a hot gas to a hot liquid.

I was thinking about taking out the factory single speed fan and putting the dual speed fan that I got out of a Cougar a while back and wire it on "high" into the circuit as the original fan. Do you think that would work?
