ECM Location 86 XT turbo

The car starts up, runs about 30 seconds and then stops. The ECS light comes on prior to the engine stopping. The Hayes manual indicates the ECM and diode for diagnosis is below the steering wheel. I took off all the covers, but not ECM at this location. does anyone know where this device is located? I suspect the oxygen sensor may have failed and will attempt to test it voltage.

Re: ECM Location 86 XT turbo

Remove a knee bolster right below the steering column. A silver rectangle box is your ECU. A tiny lamp in the center - is O2 sensor. Turn key to ON (engine not running). O2 sensor will start blinking. Read codes. Haynes has a list of codes in section 6.

Good luck,

Sam
