Radiator Swap

Im looking into changing a leaky radiator on my 97 delta88 ls 3.8 liter v6 myself ,And was wondering if there is any special task that needs to be done for proper operation when i am finished? And also i was wondering if anyone knew if i needed the radiator with coolant sensor or without coolant sensor as described at autozone.com. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Radiator Swap

To see which radiator you will need, you will need to see if your car has a coolant level sensor in the radiator. Look on the passenger side of the radiator, the side with the cap, look down the back of it you should have a metal transmission cooler line, and then under that should be a sensor with a plug going to it about half way down the back of the radiator. That is the coolant level sensor. Also I would assume that if it has one, you should have a low coolant light that lights up on the dash, when you start the car. If there is nothing but another trans cooler line farther down near the lower hose then you don't have one.

The radiators appear to be the same other than the provision for the low coolant sensor.

After you swap the radiator, make sure to open the air bleeder on the top of the thermostat housing before you fill it with coolant. As you fill it this will allow most of the air to escape. And take your time.
