1979 Ram Van ignition issues...

Completely lost at this one. I have a 79 ram van that I did an engine swap on. For some reason it destroys distributors, the pickup coil on the inside. I am on my 5th one. I have replaced the ballast resistor, ignition switch, voltage regulator, starter relay, and many other parts but still have the same problem. I can put a new distributor and the van will start right up...

Open to any and all suggestions

The cam bearings could be worn. The result is a lot of side pressure on the distributor shaft, which in turn throws the pick-up coil out of whack.
